Applications Open for 35,000 Free Interrail Passes

News

Irish Green MEP Ciarán Cuffe has welcomed the launch of this year’s DiscoverEU application process, offering 35,000 young people a free Interrail pass to explore Europe by train. Applications are open to young people born in 2004 until the final deadline of October 25th, 2022. Applicants must answer a short selection quiz at the DiscoverEU portal here to complete their application. Successful candidates will be able to travel in Europe for up to 30 days between March 1st, 2023 and February 29th, 2024.

MEP Cuffe said: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for young people to explore the rich and diverse cultures in Europe, to make friends from all over the world, and to discover the joys of international train travel along the way. For many young people, this could be the first time they have travelled independently or travelled outside of their home country at all. Efforts have been made so that young people with disabilities or health issues can also take part in the programme, by ensuring they can be accompanied on their journey. As a young person, an Interrail pass kindled my interest in Europe, and I would certainly encourage all eligible young people in Ireland to apply - it could be you!”
