Dublin MEP Ciarán Cuffe has welcomed today’s official reopening of the Dún Laoghaire baths, and highlighted the use of EU regional development funds for the revamped amenity. Approximately €1.1 million was drawn from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to support the project.
MEP Cuffe said: “The Dún Laoghaire baths are a fabulous amenity that have been enjoyed for generations. It is a tribute to the good work of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and A2 architects. It’s fantastic to see EU funds used to develop a recreational project like this, bringing joy to the local community and visitors alike. The pandemic brought many Dubliners back to the shoreline, and you’ll find Dublin beaches are packed year-round with swimmers who brave the waters, even in the coldest months. I can’t wait for my first swim back there, and I would encourage everyone to make the trip to Dún Laoghaire to experience it for yourself!”
