The Green Party has called on the public to have their say in Climate Action Plans published by the four Dublin Local Authorities, and to take part in Saturday's Open Day in Dublin's Mansion House.A public information event takes place this Saturday 16th February in the Round Room of Dublin's Mansion House, and experts will be there to advise you on how to save money and reduce your carbon footprint.Cllr Ciarán Cuffe co-chair of Dublin City Council's Climate sub-Committee said:"This is a great opportunity to learn about Dublin City Council's Climate Action Plans, and find out how to save money and reduce you and your family's carbon footprint. Drop into the Mansion House this Saturday and find out what you can do. Have your say on what Dublin City Council can do to tackle Climate Change. The deadline for submissions is Monday 25th March."Cllr Claire Byrne co-chair of Dublin City Council's Climate sub-Committee said:"Climate change is one of the single biggest threats we face in the coming years. One of the first things I did when I was elected in 2014 was to ensure that we developed a new climate change plan for Dublin City. The last plan had not been reviewed or updated since 2009. We established a sub-committee, which I co-chair with my colleague Cllr Ciaran Cuffe and in 2016 we published the first ever climate change strategy for all four Dublin Local Authorities."I am delighted now that the draft Climate Action Plan for Dublin City is completed and is open for public consultation and I would like to commend the committee members, Codema, Dublin City Council, the Climate Action Regional Office and all the other stakeholders for their work on this."However, civic engagement will be key to the success of the plan and to make sure our City is climate ready. We pushed for a high level of public consultation and very much welcome the Mansion House event this Saturday. I would encourage as many people as possible, from the old to the young, to come along on Saturday, or view the plan on www.dublinclimatechange.ie and make a submission. All our futures and our children's futures depend on it making sure this plans works."Cllr David Healy, Chair of Fingal County Council's Planning and Strategic Infrastructure Committee said:"Consultation events will be held throughout the four local authorities in Dublin, and we encourage people to make their voices heard at them and online. Local authorities must help and support communities to decarbonise our lives and our economy. We need your ideas for action at a local level to transition to the zero carbon future."
